Our City has worked to provide our residents with the best summer ever, with enjoyable, safe and empowering family and youth-oriented activities.

Welcome to our Back Together Again Newark website where you will find information about programs and events, when and where they are taking place and how you and your families can partake in them. There is something for everyone.

Join us and bring your love of Newark as we celebrate summer together again in our beloved city.

All the best!

The Back Together Again Initiative

After being quarantined for more than a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this summer we are back together again and we know how important it is to make sure our youth and families have activities, programs, and significant resources.

Mayor Baraka’s Back Together Again initiative aims to reduce violence in hot spot areas, by being thoughtful with tactical urbanistic interventions and activities that foster collaboration and promote vibrant community participation. Additional resources are being redirected to these areas such as employment for 200 young adults working with the Office of Violence Prevention; the Department of Public Works cleaning the abandoned homes and vacant lots; the Department of Economic and Housing Development administering rental assistance; the Department of Health and Community Wellness, along with the Office of Clergy Affairs and Newark People’s Assembly working with community partners to organize COVID-19 vaccination pop-up events; the Department of Recreation, Cultural Affairs, and Senior Services returning with Summer Fun in the City; and every City department working to ensure that Newark residents have an extraordinary summer.
